Reading and Writing Program

Faculty students are required to take Reading Skills courses, and participation in these courses is a prerequisite for advancing to the second year.
The course consists of a class that includes two lectures, as well as a tutorial that involves weekly meetings throughout the semester. The course, which comprises one hour per week (and is worth 2 credit points), is provided in addition to a bibliographic instruction course or a methodological instruction course, which are offered by the departments. Attendance in the lecture and tutorial sessions, as well as timely submission of assignments in the tutorial, is mandatory.
Students are required to register for a tutorial group in the course appropriate to their level.

All first-year students in the faculty’s departments whose score on the verbal section of the Hebrew Psychometric Entrance Test is below 140 must participate in the mandatory course "Reading and Writing Skills":

  • First-year students whose native language is Hebrew and whose score on the verbal section of the Hebrew Psychometric Test is between 120 and 139 must take one of the Reading and Writing Skills 1 courses, course number 08006.

  • First-year students whose native language is Hebrew and whose score on the verbal section of the Hebrew Psychometric Test is below 120 must take one of the Reading and Writing Skills 2 courses, course number 08007.

  • Students admitted through direct acceptance (based on High-School 'Bagrut' grades only) and students who took the YAEL exam will participate in course 08007.

  • Students who have not yet completed the Hebrew exemption exam will take course 08007 in their second year of studies.
