The Faculty of Humanities invites outstanding applicants to submit candidacy for tenure-track positions in the teaching of Sanskrit

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem invites applications for a half-time position in the teaching of Sanskrit in the Department of Asian Studies.

The position is open to all candidates who have attained a Master’s or Ph.D. degree and possess teaching experience.

Position Requirements:

The position is open to outstanding candidates engaged in the teaching of Sanskrit.

Responsibilities include teaching Sanskrit at the beginner and advanced levels to undergraduate students (years 1-3), as well as teaching highly advanced courses in the reading of Sanskrit, to graduate students whose primary research language is Sanskrit. 

Qualified candidates will be invited for a campus visit. The visit will include delivering a sample Sanskrit lesson, sitting for an interview, and carrying out meetings with department members.

The Hebrew University’s primary language of instruction is Hebrew. Candidates whose Hebrew proficiency is such that they are not comfortable teaching in Hebrew will be encouraged to sufficiently master Hebrew during the initial years following their appointment.

(2) Master's degree or Doctoral diploma

(3) Curriculum Vitae (According to the guidelinesCV form)

(4) Updated list of publications and a copy of one publication (According to the guidelines - List of Publication form)

(5) Teaching plans statement (up to three pages)

(6) Teaching evaluations (from the past three years)

(7) Two letters of recommendation, to be submitted directly by the recommender (according to the guidelines)
